Growing up, I was never really into getting my nails done. I was very much a no nail polish kind of gal, mainly because I didn’t like how they looked when they started chipping. Eventually, I was introduced to gel, a longer-lasting alternative to regular polish and that opened the door for me to explore my style. Admittedly, I’ve always gravitated towards neutrals both in my wardrobe and just in my preference for aesthetics, so it felt like a natural fit. Still, I didn’t love how expensive my manicures were nor was I a fan of how long it took to get them done at the salon.
Eventually, I wanted to get in on my favorite colorful nail trends, but paying significantly more just didn’t seem worth it. That is, until I was introduced to Chillhouse press-on nails. I had seen plenty of ads on my Instagram about this nails that people seemed to rave about. But thinking of press-on’s reminded me of the countless conversations I’d have with friends about how they’d pop off too quickly, never really fit the natural nail underneath, or feel too damaging. Still, I felt compelled to give these a try after seeing so many positive reviews, and in hindsight, I’m glad I did.

Chill Tips – Let It Flow 2.0
This was my first-ever set of Chillhouse nails, which felt like a big departure from my go-to neutrals. These orange swirls totally popped, and although it was an adjustment, they were super cute. Three years later, and it’s one of my favorite styles for warmer months or vacations.

This set is my most recent mani, and it only felt right to include them considering butter yellow is literally everywhere right now. The Bougie Butter tips are a fun take on a classic french look, but the yellow gives it a more summery feel that’s perfect for any occasion.

Chill Tips – Tipsy Tinsel
I never thought I’d enjoy chrome nails until I tried Tipsy Tinsel. Of all the nails I’ve tested so far, I can’t deny that these have gotten me the most compliments. And if I had to guess why, I’d imagine it’s because styles like these can be hard to get without a highly-experienced nail tech. I opted to wear these in almond, but they’re also available in oval.

Chill Tips – Born Day
Born Day is my go-to take on ombre nails. It has a peachy pink tone that fades into white at the tips. I prefer wearing this style in the almond shape, but it’s also available in square. Of course, there are more colorful options like Groovy Baby and Shades of Mohair if you’re really feeling bold.

Chill Tips – Gone Riding
Consider these brown swirly nails as the sister style to Chillhouse’s Gone Glamping, which is basically the same style in an Earthy green (and also one of my favorite styles). I’m a big fan of darker colors in the winter, and I loved how the design elevated the look. It totally beats a plain dark brown manicure!

It has two-toned waves that feel like a true visual representation of what it means to be chill. Chill Tips – Catch the Crown
I have yet to try this style, but I recently purchased them and can’t wait to try them on. I quickly gravitated to Catch the Crown because of how eye-catching the navy blue and gold tips were. Something about it is undeniably elevated, and the elongated almond shape really feels in line with the confidence you’re meant to feel when sporting this look.
How to Apply Chillhouse Press-On Nails
All Chillhouse nails come with the same kit and are applied the same way. In each box you get a dual-sided buffer and file, a cuticle stick, glue, and a pack of 30 nails.
To apply them, start by sizing each nail. Pro tip: under each press-on is a number, so once you find the sizes for one hand, all you have to do is find the matching second nail—no need to resize. I even write my numbers down in my notes app so I know for future sets. Just keep in mind that the sizes that work for almond shaped nails, for example, might not work the same for square or oval nails. Once you have your tips, use the file to buff your nails, and use the cuticle stick as needed.
Then, apply a light layer of nail glue to the back of the press-on, and a more generous layer of glue on your natural nails. After three seconds, press and hold the tip down on your nail for 30 seconds, keeping the pressure even to avoid creating air pockets. As an optional final step, you can use the file to shape your press-ons as desired, and then you’re done!
How to Remove Chillhouse Press-On Nails
Removing the nails is just as easy as putting them on. All you have to do is soak your nails in warm, soapy water and apply an oil of your choice. Personally, I like olive or coconut oil to help loosen the edges. Then, I use my cuticle stick to slowly and gently lift the nails off. I also give my hands a good wash after to remove any remaining glue or oil from my hands.
